Add-on Services

Add-on services

PocketSuite’s Add-on Services feature lets you sell extra services on top of an appointment or reservation, like a daily walk during a stay, a bath before pick-up, or a nail trim after a groom. Each add-on has its own price, time, team member and resources, so PocketSuite schedules it, staffs it and tracks it without double-booking anyone.

How to turn on add-on services

To get started, go to Settings > Features > Add-on services and toggle on.

How to choose which add-ons an item offers

Every service and reservation has an Add-ons field. It covers both add-on services and add-on products, and replaces the old “Add-on products” setting.

  1. Go to Settings and open the service or reservation.
  2. Find the Add-ons field and choose an option:
  • All add-ons (“Show all add-ons” on mobile): every service and product with “Show as add-on” turned on is offered.
  • Some add-ons (“Select add-ons” on mobile): only the add-ons you check are offered.
  • No add-ons (“Disable all add-ons” on mobile): nothing is offered, including add-on products.
  1. If you chose Some add-ons, check the add-ons you want. The picker has Services and Products tabs and a search. To create a new service on the spot, use Create new.
  2. Tap Save.

New services and reservations start on All add-ons, including ones you create by import.

How to make a service available as an add-on

  1. Go to Settings and open the service.
  2. Turn on Show as add-on.
  3. Tap Save.

“Show as add-on” is on by default for new services and products. It’s separate from whether clients can book the service on its own. To sell a service only as an add-on, turn on Show as add-on and turn off its online visibility.

Note: A service sold only as an add-on still appears when you book appointments yourself.

How add-on frequency works

Add-on frequency controls how often an add-on happens during a reservation. You set it on the add-on service, so it works the same way on every reservation that offers it.

  • Daily: one per night or day of the stay, depending on how the reservation is charged. A one-night stay charged by the night gets one; charged by the day, it gets two.
  • Start: once, as early in the stay as possible.
  • End: once, as late in the stay as possible.
  • Half-way: once, near the middle of the stay.
  • Start and end: twice.
  • Start, end, and half-way: three times.
  • Client chooses: your client picks how many, up to 30.

The add-on’s price is per occurrence. A $15 walk set to Daily on a four-night stay adds $60.

PocketSuite places each occurrence in your business hours, at a time when an eligible team member and any required resource are free. If nothing is free right at the start or end, it uses the closest time that is. If an add-on can’t be placed anywhere in the stay, it isn’t offered.

Note: Add-on frequency only applies to reservations. On an appointment, an add-on always happens once, right after the main service.

Services that don’t require staffing

Some add-ons, like playtime, don’t need a specific team member. Open the service and turn off Requires staffing. These add-ons only need any required resource and your business hours to be scheduled, and they come in without a team member. You’ll find them under Unassigned on your task board.

Add-on services also follow their own resource requirements. For example, a bath that needs a tub is only offered when a tub is free.

How clients add add-ons

When booking online or in the client app

After your client picks a service or reservation, they see an Add-ons page with your add-on services and add-on products in separate sections. Each add-on shows its name, price and description.

  • On an appointment, add-ons are scheduled back to back right after the main service, so only times that fit the whole visit are offered.
  • On a reservation, a Daily add-on shows its rate, like “$15 /night.” For Client chooses add-ons, your client picks a quantity.
  • Add-ons are paid at checkout along with the booking.

At check-in

When add-ons are offered on a booking, your check-in link includes an Add-ons step.

  • Each add-on is checked for availability as soon as your client selects it. If it can’t be scheduled, it shows “Not available for this date” and your client can remove it and continue. Check-in is never blocked.
  • On a reservation, quantities count from the check-in date, so a client checking in a day late isn’t charged for nights that have passed.
  • Anything your client adds goes onto the booking’s balance due and is paid at checkout. They’ll see “Added to your booking. You’ll pay at checkout.”
  • You’ll get an “Added add-ons” notification.

Note: On a booking for more than one pet, the add-ons your client picks at check-in apply to every pet on the booking.

How to add, remove or change add-ons on a booking

  1. Open the booking and tap Edit.
  2. Use the Add-ons field to add or remove add-ons.
  3. Review each add-on’s time, team member and resource in the staffing step. You can change any of them.
  4. Tap Save.
  • Removing an add-on asks you to confirm, for example “Remove Bath from this booking?”
  • Changing a quantity on a reservation: in the mobile app, use the … menu on the add-on. Lowering the quantity removes the latest occurrences first.
  • Payment: changes go to the balance due and are collected at the next payment. Nothing is charged to the card on file automatically. If your client already paid for an add-on you remove, the refund follows your refund policy.
  • Notifications: your client is notified when you add, remove or change an add-on.

On the booking, add-on services are listed under Services, for example “Walk $20 x 3,” and each occurrence shows on the Timeline with its time and team member.

Who does each add-on

PocketSuite assigns add-ons automatically: 1. If one team member can do the main service and every add-on, they get all of it. 2. Otherwise, the main service’s team member gets the add-on if they can perform it and are free. 3. Otherwise, the next available team member who can perform it gets it.

You can change the team member or resource on any add-on from the booking, and your change sticks.

Who can change add-ons

  • Admins and Super Admins can add, remove and edit any add-on.
  • Staff can edit only the parts of a booking they’re assigned to. Staff assigned only to the main service can’t add or remove add-ons.
  • Limited team members can’t add, remove or edit add-ons.

Calendar, run cards and tasks

  • Calendar: Admins and Super Admins see each visit as one block, with a row and colour for each add-on. Staff and Limited team members see only their part, labelled like “Nail trim, part of Full groom.” Dragging an appointment moves its add-ons with it. To move a single reservation add-on, edit the booking.
  • Run cards: page 1 lists “Add-ons (N)” above products. On reservations, page 2 has an add-on table showing each occurrence’s time and team member.
  • Tasks: every add-on occurrence creates a task. From the task board you can Grab, Auto-assign or Mark complete. To assign a specific team member, edit the booking.

Your clients see one visit on their calendar. Reservation add-ons don’t appear on the client’s calendar.

Payment, commission and reports

  • Receipts list each add-on as its own line, labelled “Add-on service” or “Add-on product,” with the price and quantity, for example “$25 x 2.”
  • Commission: each add-on pays commission to the team member who does it, at their normal rate. If you reassign an add-on, the commission moves with it. Cancelling or removing it voids the commission.
  • Cancelling a booking cancels all of its add-ons, with one refund under your refund policy.
  • Changing dates: add-ons move with the booking. Daily add-ons adjust to the new number of nights or days. If an add-on can’t be moved, you’re asked to reschedule or cancel it before saving.
  • Reports: use the “Add-on services” filter in your sales reports to see add-on revenue as an amount and as a share of booking revenue. Your sales dashboard summary shows your add-on attach rate.

What happened to Multiple Services

Add-on services replaces Multiple Services. Once add-on services is on:

  • “Add another service” is no longer shown. Each booking has one main service, and anything else is an add-on.
  • Your existing multi-service bookings were converted automatically. The first service became the main service and the rest became add-ons, and they keep working as before.
  • Your existing services were made available as add-ons on your other services. Existing reservations don’t offer add-on services until you change their Add-ons field.

Important: Bundled discounts from Multiple Services aren’t available yet. Add-ons are charged at their regular prices.

Frequently asked questions

Why isn’t my add-on showing up? Check that Show as add-on is on for the add-on, and that the service or reservation being booked has its Add-ons field set to include it. For reservations, an add-on is also hidden when no team member or required resource is free anywhere in the stay.

Can a client change their add-ons after booking? Clients can add more at check-in. To remove or change an add-on, edit the booking yourself.

Can I offer a walk twice a day? Set the walk to Client chooses so your client can pick the total number, up to 30.

Why is an add-on unassigned? Its service has Requires staffing turned off. Grab or Auto-assign it from the task board, or assign someone from the booking.

Can I import bookings with add-ons? Yes. The Service Booking and Reservation Booking import templates include add-on columns. Each add-on occurrence goes on its own row, and a Total is required.
