Tap To Pay

Tap To Pay (TTP) lets you accept contactless payments from your clients using your phone. TTP is a simple and secure way to collect payments without a card reader. All you need is a compatible Android device or iPhone. With TTP, you can accept physical contactless credit and debit cards or digital wallets when you charge clients in the PocketSuite app.

Tap To Pay does not have to be turned on in features. It’s automatically enabled for all PocketSuite accounts, including your team members’ accounts.

If your device isn’t eligible for Tap To Pay, you won’t see it as a payment option when you charge a client. Read this guide for a list of devices that support Tap To Pay.

Note: Your client's physical card must be contactless for TTP to work. Contactless cards have a wave symbol on the front, like the one pictured below:

From the home screen, tap Charge. Select a client and add items to the sale. Or, enter a custom item description and price into the keypad. (You can also make anonymous sales with TTP, adding a client is optional.)

When you’re ready, hit the Charge button at the bottom of your screen.

Note: You can use Tap To Pay to charge clients from any PocketSuite workflow, i.e., from a class, a package, an appointment, a gift certificate, an invoice, etc. Read this guide to learn more about charging clients at the point of sale.

Next, you’ll be asked to select a payment method. Hit Tap To Pay.

Optional: If you have gratuity turned on, you will be able to add a tip. Select the tip amount or “No tip,” then hit the Charge button.

Your device will connect to the TTP system.

The first time you use Tap To Pay on an iPhone, you will be asked to link your Apple ID and give PocketSuite permission to access your location.

On the "Turn on Locations" screen, hit "Continue". Then select “Allow while Using App” on the next screen.

Next, you must link your Apple ID to use Tap To Pay. Hit “Continue with this Apple ID.” After linking your Apple ID, you might receive a welcome email from Apple.

When prompted, tap your client’s card as directed on your device. (Some devices will tell you to tap behind the device, others will say to tap in front of the device.) The payment will start processing.

Do not pull the card away from the device until you are prompted on the screen!

If the transaction is successful, you’ll see the done screen below, and you can choose whether to text or email a receipt to your client.

On the final success screen, you can view the payment or create another payment.

Note: You may see an error screen if there’s an issue with the payment. The error message should display a reason for the error. If the error continues, send us a message in the PocketSuite app.
